The Department of History and Geography offers a comprehensive range of courses and degrees and is the second-largest department in the College of Liberal Arts at Morgan State. The programs include the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in history, as well as minors in history and geography. Particular departmental strengths include the history of African-Americans, the African Diaspora, the Caribbean, and the United States. This department teaches students to read with understanding, to analyze and interpret ideas, and to write clear and meaningful reports. The skills and knowledge gained through historical research are good preparations for careers in law, advertising/ media, teaching, theology, library science, banking, business and industry, administration, archival management, museums, government, and many more.

The Office of Residence Life and Housing (ORLH) at Morgan State University support and is an integral part of the educational and social development of students. Additionally, they provide a safe and comfortable living environment that enhances the academic success and achievements of the students. Students who live in residence halls are afforded a variety of opportunities for personal growth and development. They accomplish this through both structured and informal programs, and leadership opportunities throughout the academic year. The residence life program strives to provide an educational setting that integrates classroom and interpersonal experiences into a holistic learning experience. They also provide a living-learning environment that is conducive to the educational growth and personal development of the student. ORL provides quality residence hall programs, activities and living facilities that encourage student participation through hall government and leadership positions within the halls. The residence halls feature student rooms with telephone, computer and cable access, study rooms, laundry facilities and computer labs. They tailor residence life programs and activities to respond to the cultural, social, recreational and educational needs of students.
