This program is designed to provide a broad education so that the student can take advantage of a variety of professional opportunities. The mission of this program is to provide an educational program that is high quality, academically challenging and career-enriching by maintaining a balance between theoretical and experimental aspects of information technology, as well as a balance between software and hardware concepts. The degree further seeks to provide curricula that serve the citizens and industrial organizations in the United States and Texas in general and those in North Texas in particular.

The modules include 39 semester hours of computer science and information technology courses, including CSCE 1030 Computer Science I 4, 1040 Computer Science II 3, 2050 Computer Science III 3, 1035 Information Systems I 3, 1045 Information Systems II 3, 2615 Enterprise Systems Architecture, Analysis and Design 3, 3055 IT Project Management 3, 4355 Database Design and Information Integration 3, 3535 Introduction to Network and Security Management 3, 3605 IT Systems and Administration 3, 4905 Capstone I 3, 4925 Capstone II 3 and 4010 Engineering Ethics 2; At least 9 additional hours must be taken in advanced CSCE courses.

Students must have graduated from an accredited high school and strongly recommend that students take the following classes in high school. Students should have a strong ‘B’ average and have completed three units of English and two units each of solid mathematics, social science and natural science. Students should have a minimum combined SAT (combined critical reading/verbal and math) score of 1180 or ACT composite of 26. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (Internet-based), score of 550 (Paper-based) and score of 213 (Computer-based) and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall band and also should have minimum MELAB (official version) score of 80 or higher.
