Asian Studies challenges students to integrate language and cultural skills to prepare for careers in the Pacific region. The objectives of the program are to provide an understanding of the fundamentals of the civilizations of Asia in both traditional and modern settings, and to provide a more in-depth comprehension of specific areas within the region. This concentration features courses from such departments as Anthropology, Art, Geography, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, and Modern Languages, Literatures and Linguistics. Students will obtain an educational foundation appropriate for teaching, business, research, foreign service, technological and economic development, as well as other careers related to Asia.

Students should possess graduation from an accredited high school or they should have received a GED. The high school curricular core requirements should include the following courses: 4 units of English, 3 units of college prep math, 3 units of laboratory science, 3 units of history and citizenship and 2 additional units. An official TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test (213 on the computer-based test or 79 on the internet-based test), IELTS score of 6.5 and cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) is required.
