This program helps them reflect on the origins and causes of conflict, violence, and social injustice as well as the wide spectrum of conflict intervention, from armed conflict, through governmental and organizational peace building, to local and interpersonal conflict resolution. It introduces students to strategies for resolving interpersonal, communal and international conflicts peacefully, as well as tactics that promote the common good in a way that addresses the structural origins of violence. The peace, justice, and conflict studies program addresses the need for a critical examination of the origins and root causes of violence and conflict. It includes frank debate about the efficacy of nonviolent in comparison with violent approaches to social change. The inclusion of conflict theory and intervention as part of this program is a distinctive aspect of this program; the arena of conflict resolution offers many potential career options.

The modules are PAX 200: Perspectives on Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies 4 credit hours, PAX 250: Workshops on skills and techniques 4 credit hours, PAX 210: From International Conflict to Resolution and Peace 4 credit hours, PAX 212: Social Justice and Social Change 4 credit hours, PAX 214: Conflict: Intervention, Negotiation, and Advocacy 4 credit hours, PAX 300: Senior Seminar 4 credit hours, PAX 350: Capstone- Peace, Justice, Conflict Studies 4 credit hours, PAX 390 or 392: Internship 4 credit hours, Students will select five (5) electives for their program concentration from the list approved by the Program for majors.

Applicants should have completed or are about to complete their secondary school education (high school) and have not taken any college or university coursework after finishing their secondary education. Applicants educated outside the US, regardless of their legal status, should have a proof of English proficiency. Applicants can prove their English proficiency by submitting any of the tests below: minimum TOEFL score of 80, no section lower than 17 (internet based), 213 (computer-based) or 550 (paper based); minimum IELTS score of 6.5; minimum SAT verbal score of 500; minimum ACT score of 18 on the reading section, and 20 on the English section and a minimum Pearson Test of English Academic score of 53.
