The program is designed to meet the need of students intending to specialize in physics and pursue graduate work in physics, engineering, material science, or biophysics; students preparing for a professional career in science and engineering; students desiring to broaden their knowledge of the natural world; and students who wish to teach at the secondary level.

The modules include PLSC 101 Introduction to Political Science, PLSC 121 American National Government, PLSC 303 Public Administration and Bureaucracy or PLSC 348 Congress and the Presidency, PLSC 306 Comparative Political Systems or PLSC 414 International Relations, PLSC 355 Constitutional Law: Civil Liberties, PLSC 440 Internship in Political Science, PLSC 490 Research Seminar in Political Studies, COMM 201 Principles of Editing, COMM 203 Writing for the Mass Media, COMM 240 Introduction to the Mass Media, COMM 306 Principles of Layout and Design, COMM 310 Professional Writing, COMM 326 Introduction to Web Writing and Design, COMM 336 Public Relations Principles, COMM 337 Public Relations Writing and Campaign Planning, COMM 338 Principles of Advertising, COMM 340 Communication Theory and Persuasion, COMM 350 Business and Professional Communication, COMM 201 and/or 203 are prerequisites for these courses.
