This Department comprises six academic disciplines. These are political science, sociology, criminal justice, geography, history and philosophy. This Department offers curricula leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in the School of Arts and Sciences with majors in political science and sociology and minors in history, political science, philosophy, and sociology. Curricula leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in the School of Education with majors in history, political science and social studies are also offered.

This University houses approximately 2,400 students or about 40 per cent of the total undergraduate enrollment. The residence halls provide experience in hall government, social planning and group living. It offers rooms which are rented as doubles. In these residence halls students restricted of using refrigerators, hot plates, microwave ovens and other appliances. Members of the opposite sex are not permitted in students’ rooms (unless during Inter-room visitation) including private and basement level rooms, hallways leading to rooms, rear and side entrances, and upper and lower level lounges. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the residence halls. Pets are not allowed in the residential campus.
