In this program students will master more advanced design techniques, and apply them to complex building types, including townhouses, country and vacation homes, retail stores, and government and religious facilities. Students complete a two-semester senior thesis project, which culminates in a presentation to a jury of practicing professionals. Students will work with New York interior designers, lighting and graphic designers, and architects in internships at top firms such as Gensler, Interior Architects, and the Rockwell Group; network with industry professionals and work with fellow students on Interior Design Club projects; and practice skills on class projects that include residential, corporate, retail, hospitality, and institutional settings.

Students must have completed an AAS degree from FIT or an equivalent degree or 60 appropriate credits from a regionally accredited four-year bachelor’s degree program. Those who have completed less than four years of English (not ESL) at a U.S. high school are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS. International students must have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 80 on internet-based (ibt) test, 213 on computer-based test, 550 on paper-based test; IELTS band score of 6.5 in the academic module is required. Applicants who have completed an English composition course at a college in the U.S. are not exempt from taking the TOEFL or IELTS scores.
