This program is designed to prepare students for careers as professional dancers, choreographers, or teachers. The dance program uniquely fuses theatrical and musical training and perspectives into the dance curriculum, enabling dance students to prepare for specialized careers in modern and ballet companies or in the professional theatre as dancers who sing and act. The underpinning of the dance curriculum is the daily ballet class with specialized training in modern and jazz/theatre dance. Training is completed with studies in dance history, dance pedagogy, improvisation, choreography, tap, pointe, men's class, and pas de deux. Seniors are required to complete a senior choreographic project before graduation. Its students have gone on to perform nationally and internationally in dance companies such as Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, BalletMet, Cincinnati Ballet, Louisville Ballet, Lula Washington Dance Theatre, and Dayton Ballet as well as appearing in Broadway and regional musicals.

Students must have earned a certificate of completion of secondary education that would enable the student to be admitted to a university in his or her home country, have studied mathematics and science subjects at the secondary level, a minimum score of 173(CBT) or 61/120 (IBT) in TOEFL (College of Engineering and Computer Science requires 197(CBT) or 71/120(IBT)), a minimum score of band 5 in IELTS, 1140 or higher in SAT or 25 or higher in ACT for coming directly out of secondary school with GPA is 3.25 or higher and must ranked among the top 10% of their graduating class.

This university is first public institution of higher learning was first laid in 1961, when Dayton was the second-largest metropolitan area in Ohio that had no public higher education facility, it is about 557 acre and its Lake campus is about 173 acres. The main campus in Fairborn is located 11.6 miles and 15 minutes east of downtown Dayton and the Lake Campus is located on the shore of Grand Lake St. Marys, between Celina and St. Marys, Ohio. The university will be a catalyst for educational excellence in the Miami Valley, meeting the need for an educated citizenry dedicated to lifelong learning and service.
