The Design degree serves undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in scenic, costume, or lighting design. Designers combine practical knowledge with artistic ability to turn abstract ideas into formal designs for each production. OU offers a wide variety of design opportunities in dramas, comedies, musicals, and full-length dance productions. Graduates of the design program will have designed a variety of productions and built strong portfolios to take out into the professional world or to graduate school.

Students should possess graduation from an accredited high school or they should have received a GED. The high school curricular core requirements should include the following courses: 4 units of English, 3 units of college prep math, 3 units of laboratory science, 3 units of history and citizenship and 2 additional units. An official TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test (213 on the computer-based test or 79 on the internet-based test), IELTS score of 6.5 and cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) is required.
