This program was created to educate and develop artistic and imaginative students to pursue career opportunities in the fields of commercial art and design. This Bachelor of Fine Arts degree completion program features a concentration in Graphic Design, a real-world curriculum placing an emphasis on the development of the creative thinking process. Students will learn the principles, practical applications and methodologies used to complete competent and creative graphic solutions for specified design problems. Throughout the Graphic Design curriculum, they will create a portfolio of projects from each of their courses, the intent of which is to prepare them to pursue such opportunities as web designers, graphic designers, Flash animators and many other creative career opportunities. All required graphics software is included in the cost of the program, providing students with training in the latest design software necessary to help pursue a chosen career upon completion of the program. The program emphasizes the development of the thinking process and the ability to solve design problems creatively. Students can learn the principles, practical applications, technologies, and methodologies used in solving complex design problems in a creative and unique manner. It can help prepare students interested in developing and advancing a career as a graphic designer or artist, brand communicator, production artist, packaging/brand designer, and print/interactive designer.

The upper division courses include VCDD 310 Art Direction - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 311 Design Development I - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 312 Design Development II - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 313 Computer Design II - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 410 Business Practices in Visual Communication - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 411 Senior Design Presentation I - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 412 Senior Design Presentation II - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 413 Portfolio Presentation I - (4.5) Credits; VCDD 490 Portfolio Presentation II - (4.5) Credits. The general elective includes VCDD 300 Portfolio Development and Review - (4.5) Credits. The general education requirements include PRES 111 Presentation Essentials - (4.5) Credits; SSCI 206 Aspects of Psychology - (4.5) Credits; HUMA 205 Art Appreciation - (4.5) Credits; SSCI 210 Sociology - (4.5) Credits; HUMA 215 Topics in Cultural Studies - (4.5) Credits; SCIE 210 Environmental Science - (4.5) Credits.

Students must have high school completion or its equivalent. Accepted methods for the demonstration of English proficiency include but are not limited to the following: TOEFL score of 500 or higher on the paper based test, 173 or higher on the computer based test and 61 or higher on the internet based test; Advanced Placement International English Language (APIEL) score of 3 or higher; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 or higher; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 73 or higher; University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate Certificate of Advanced English (UCLES CAE) grade of A, B or C; University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate Certificate of Proficiency in English (UCLES CPE) grade of A, B or C; and British GCSE/Ordinary (O) or Advanced (A and AS) Level examinations in the Subject of English grade of A, B or C.
