This program will develop the problem-solving skills needed to adapt technology to meet the needs of business; provide students with methods to analyze, design, implement and maintain computer-based information systems to support the decision-making function of management; provide a balanced curriculum that addresses the knowledge and skills related to programming, databases, operating systems, and networking in business environments Graduates of the program will demonstrate the use of project management techniques within an appropriate system analysis, and design lifecycle framework to develop an information system; administer a network infrastructure designed to support management and production functions in business or industry; support the data management needs of business through the design, implementation, and maintenance of relational databases; solve a variety of business problems through the application of structured program analysis and design concepts.

Students seeking admission to this University must have a minimum score of 500 in paper-based, 173 in computer-based or 61 in internet-based TOEFL. Studentss with a TOEFL score below 500, 173 or 61 and willing to study in Rapid City campus are required to participate in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program until they satisfy the required completion criteria. Studentss are also required to have one of the following: official academic transcript or marks sheets from previous secondary education institutions and universities attended; a transcript from an accredited US higher education institution or from an international institution that is approved by the country’s national ministry of education or appropriate approved body indicating completion of a post-secondary program or certified GED examination report.

This campus is conveniently located in downtown Rapid City, SD. The campus has been serving students in the western South Dakota area since 1941, and is still considered University’s home campus. In addition to its strong business and information technology curriculum, the campus offers excellent degree programs in athletic training, veterinary technology, and paralegal studies. It is located at 321 Kansas City, easily accessible from just about anywhere in the Rapid City area, and is convenient to Interstate 90, Highway 16 and Highway 79.

National American University provides on-campus housing to the students through residence halls located near all classes, the library, gym, and weight room. The residence hall consists of three living areas: east, central and west wings. The east and central wings have three floors each and the west wing has four floors. Each floor has 8-10 rooms. The main lobby consists of a lounge area with a large screen television and several computer work stations. A kitchenette, vending machines, and laundry facilities are also available; services offered to students include: free parking space (but limited), wireless Internet access (with monthly fee), and rental televisions. The rooms in the Women’s West Wing can accommodate up to four women and have a private bathroom. The rooms in Men’s West Wing can accommodate up to four men and have a private bathroom. The Central Wing will be in use for SDSM and T and WDT students beginning the fall quarter. The East wing is a non-traditional student wing made up of mostly single rooms. Students who live on campus are more likely to obtain a degree, have a higher grade point average, and experience higher degree of satisfaction.
