Students will gain a broad understanding of marketing, science, and business in courses that includes cosmetic knowledge lab, fragrance knowledge lab, packaging design for cosmetics and fragrance, cosmetic and fragrance marketing and environmental fragrancing. Students will work on product development and marketing projects with leading companies. Students will develop business plans, create campaigns, and launch programs to raise brand awareness. Students will collaborate with fellow students in the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing Association. An internship at a leading company will give the valuable firsthand experience along with contacts to further the career. And students will have the opportunity to study abroad for three weeks in Paris, London, and Milan. The trip includes visits to a French factory which has been making fine fragrance bottles since 1623, the Museum of Perfume in Grasse, and a factory that distills and extracts essential oils. FIT is internationally recognized for the quality of its programs and the caliber of its graduates. At FIT, students are connected through a faculty of industry professionals and extensive networking opportunities. As a result, FIT graduates have a higher than average job placement rate. Graduates of the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing program hold a variety of positions including marketing manager, global product development coordinator, fragrance evaluator, creative fragrance development manager, director of product education, retail operations manager. Graduates are placed at small and large cosmetics companies, fragrances developers, retail organizations, private-label manufacturers including Estee Lauder, Parfums Givenchy, Barneys, L’Oreal, Lancome, Victoria’s Secret Beauty, Fresh, Inc., Avon, Unilever, MAC, Clarins USA, Coty.

Students must have completed an AAS degree from FIT or an equivalent degree or 60 appropriate credits from a regionally accredited four-year bachelor’s degree program. Those who have completed less than four years of English (not ESL) at a U.S. high school are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS. International students must have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 80 on internet-based (ibt) test, 213 on computer-based test, 550 on paper-based test; IELTS band score of 6.5 in the academic module is required. Applicants who have completed an English composition course at a college in the U.S. are not exempt from taking the TOEFL or IELTS scores.
