CDAE supports sustainable local and international community development through interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach that serves the public interest. CDAE offers three innovative majors: Community Entrepreneurship, Community and International Development, and Public Communication. Students in CDAE focus on the application of economic principles and their relationship to leadership and management, economic and enterprise development, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility. CDAE offers many courses with experiential learning, including service-learning courses in which student’s partner with community organizations to work on real-world issues.

UVM's residence halls house approximately 5,500 students on four residential campuses and Apartments: Athletic Campus, Central Campus, North Campus, and Redstone Campus. In addition to traditional residence halls, ResLife’s Apartments and Family Housing (AFH) offers 120 apartments for nontraditional students, graduate students, and students with families. In traditional residence halls the rooms may be doubles, suites, triples and, occasionally, singles. Telephones, cable and computer network hookups are standard equipment, along with beds, dressers and/or stand-up closets. Students will find study areas, kitchen facilities and recreation lounges just steps away.
