This program helps prepare students to demonstrate knowledge and abilities in criminal justice and juvenile justice processes, criminology, law enforcement, law adjudication and corrections. The primary goal of this program is to help prepare students to become qualified criminal justice professionals. The opportunity for public service through law enforcement work is attractive to many because the job is challenging and involves much personal responsibility. Forensic science personnel investigate crimes by collecting and analyzing physical evidence. Often, they specialize in areas such as DNA analysis or firearm examination, performing tests on weapons or on substances such as fiber, glass, hair, tissue, and body fluids to determine their significance to the investigation. Forensic science personnel also prepare reports to document their findings and the laboratory techniques used, and they may provide information and expert opinion to investigators. The program is designed to help meet the need for career-focused professionals with the knowledge and skills to pursue exciting opportunities in this growing area of the criminal justice industry. It can help prepare students interested in developing and advancing such interesting, in-demand career opportunities as crime scene analyst, non-sworn forensic personnel and more. The program features industry-relevant coursework taught by faculty members with real-world experience in the criminal justice industry. Learning from experienced instructors, students can absorb career-relevant knowledge that can immediately be applied in real-world professional situations. Instructors will cover material including clear explanations of the techniques, abilities, and limitations within the field of forensic science and its applications to criminal investigations; forensic science techniques of criminal investigations, how to process a crime scene and notify the next of kin; and appropriate techniques to safeguard evidence and interact with investigative authorities.

Students must have high school completion or its equivalent. Accepted methods for the demonstration of English proficiency include but are not limited to the following: TOEFL score of 500 or higher on the paper based test, 173 or higher on the computer based test and 61 or higher on the internet based test; Advanced Placement International English Language (APIEL) score of 3 or higher; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 or higher; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 73 or higher; University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate Certificate of Advanced English (UCLES CAE) grade of A, B or C; University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate Certificate of Proficiency in English (UCLES CPE) grade of A, B or C; and British GCSE/Ordinary (O) or Advanced (A and AS) Level examinations in the Subject of English grade of A, B or C.
