This program produces well-rounded students with a broad, liberal arts education. It enables students to think critically about economic issues and participate in economic policy debates. It develops an understanding of businesses, markets, and financial organizations. It prepares students for careers in business and the public sector and establishes a foundation for graduate study in economics, business, and law. Upon graduation, about half of University of Delaware economics majors find employment in business or government, and the other half go on to graduate school. Some of the most frequently chosen employment areas include banking, sales, management and management training programs, insurance, real estate, financial analysis, and government. The most popular choices for graduate study are MBA programs, law school, and economics. The concentration in Economic Theory and Econometrics deals with advanced study in preparation for graduate studies in economics.

The modules are MATH 114 or 170 Elementary Mathematics and Statistics, MATH 115 or 171 Pre-Calculus, ENGL 110 Critical Reading and Writing, ECON 151 Introduction to Microeconomics: Prices and Markets, ECON 152 Introduction to Macroeconomics: National Economy, ECON 303 Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory, ECON 300 Intermediate Microeconomic Theory or ECON 301 Quantitative Microeconomic Theory, ECON 422/423 Econometric Methods and Models I and II or ECON 822/823 Econometric Theory/Seminar in Econometrics, ACCT 261 Introduction to Business Information Systems II.

Students must have transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary work, a minimum score of 80 (TOEFL ibt), 550 (paper), or 213 (computer) in TOEFL (for international students from non-English speaking country) or 6.5 or better in IELTS, applicants to the Nursing major must have a minimum TOEFL score of 100 (TOEFL ibt), 600 (paper), or 250 (computer).
