The Elementary Teacher Preparation Program prepares teachers for grades 1 through 6. The program consists of general and professional education coursework including extensive field experiences in area schools. At successful completion of the program, candidates receive a B.S. Ed.-Elementary Degree and are recommended to the Missouri Department of Education for initial licensure.

Students must have completed at least 30 hours; passed all sections of C-BASE with a score of 265 or higher; completed a Highway Patrol background check; completed EDC 150 and ELE 302 with grades of "C" grade or better; a combined (MSU and transfer) GPA of 2.50 or higher; application approved by the Professional Education Committee (PEC); and documentation of prior work with children (60+ hours) in an institutional setting.
