This program focuses on developing professional competencies that enable them to recognize and evaluate cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic functions in diseased and healthy populations. In addition, exercise physiologists are often involved in researching the effects of exercise on the human body, and rehabilitating individuals suffering from pathological conditions such as cardiovascular and/or pulmonary diseases. The exercise physiology major, upon completion of the curriculum, will be prepared to challenge the Exercise Physiology certification examination administered through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Students should have completed high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). The minimum college preparatory subjects are: English (4 units), Mathematics (3 units), Natural Science (2 units with a laboratory component), History/Social Science (2 units) and one unit of U.S. history. Students whose primary language is not English may be required to submit their Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results.
