This program provides students with a solid undergraduate program emphasizing basic business management principles and their specific application to the hospitality and tourism industry and its components that make up the industry. It integrates a significant number of courses from diverse disciplines into a comprehensive theoretical and applied program necessary for success in the hospitality and tourism profes¬sions. The program is directed at management positions in the industry, positions that require a broad understanding of management and its application to the businesses and organizations that flourish in this sector of the international, national, state, and local economies. The emphasis in meetings and events operations and management is aimed at preparing individuals to successfully manage destination based agencies that attract and entertain guests in a host region (convention centers, bureaus, festivals, sporting events, etc.).

Students should have a minimum US equivalent GPA of 3.0 (B grade or about 80 per cent) or higher. In addition to this, international students whose major education has been in a language other than English must score 550 or higher (using the paper version) or 213 or higher (using the computer version) or 80 or higher (using the internet version) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); or 6.5 or better on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
