The undergraduate program in mechanical and aerospace engineering trains students in a technically sound, challenging, and professional manner, laying the foundation for a productive career and enabling graduates to make positive contributions to their profession and society. This is achieved with a thorough preparation in the humanities, mathematics, and basic sciences as well as up-to-date mechanical and aerospace engineering fundamentals and applications using the most advanced tools and methods available. In the senior year, the capstone design and manufacturing course allows students to solve open-ended, multicriteria engineering problems. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, project management, conceptualization, detailed design, computational analysis, and manufacturing. At the end of the yearlong course, students will have experienced a full product development cycle from concept to construction and testing.

Applicants who studied in Indian schools are requested to submit the Higher Secondary Certificate and Secondary School Certificate. Those who have studied are requested to submit Hong Kong Certificate of Education and/or British GCE "O" and or "A" Level exams, and Pakistan students are requested to submit 10th and 12th grade mark sheets (Matriculation and Intermediate Certificate). Applicants whose secondary schooling has been outside the US in a country where English is not the principal language, regardless of US residency status, are requested to take TOEFL, IELTS and MELAB (Michigan English Assessment Battery). Acceptable TOEFL scores are 550+ on the paper and pencil test or 79+ on the Internet-based test. A score of 7 or higher on either the academic paper and pencil test or the academic computer-based test in IELTS is acceptable for admission. The minimum required MELAB score is 82.
