This program is designed to complement the existing skills of an individual to include general knowledge, human relations, and development skills, communication skills, principles of justice, and the application of organizational and leadership principles required to successfully work in today's organizations providing public safety and law enforcement services. It integrates courses in human relations, human justice, organization, communication, and leadership to provide the student with the background necessary to be upwardly mobile within the organizational structures of public safety agencies, community nonprofit organizations, and church organizations. This includes skills required to work with police officers and police chaplains working in the community as well as in juvenile or adult detention centers, and in private organizations providing related public safety and law enforcement services. Upon completion of this course students will have gained knowledge of the jurisprudence system required to effectively function in the role of prison ministry, gained knowledge of the jurisprudence system required to effectively function in the role of chaplain for law enforcement agencies, acquired skills and knowledge in general education areas that are foundation to life skills and further education, gained basic knowledge of management principles and supervision, developed a basic understanding of the criminal justice system and basic skills in communicating in professional settings.

The Lower Division Courses must include at least one course in Math or Natural Science, one in Social Science or Behavioral Science, one in Humanities or Fine Arts and one in Communications (English). The foundation course, FD 1412 Management Intervention is strongly recommended for all students. The other courses include: HS 2403 Introduction to Public Safety and Security, HS 2420 Domestic Terrorism and Hate Crimes, LJ 2409 Criminal Investigation, LJ 2445 Criminology, LJ 3401 Criminal Justice, LJ 3405 Criminal Law, LJ 3406 Criminal Evidence, LJ 3411 Criminal Procedures, LJ 3417 White Collar Crime, LJ 3421 Organized Crime, LJ 4450 Criminal Justice Overview, HD 4430 Psychological Profiling, MC 4426 Interview and Interrogation and MC 4406 Professional Public Relations.

Applicants should have a minimum TOEFL score of 440 for the paper examination version and 123 for the computer version or equivalent score of an approved equivalent test.
