स्थानबारे जानकारी
The Department of Art sees itself as the campus leader in the visual arts, in both creating and understanding visual culture. At the same time, they believe that the strategies and processes used in the visual arts spill over into other disciplines and can be useful tools for creative thinking, innovation, and leadership in any field. The department enrolls approximately 600 majors and minors, making it one of the largest departments in the College of Liberal Arts, indeed one of the largest in the University. The department offers three degrees-the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), the Bachelor of Arts (BA), and the Bachelor of Science (BS)-in four areas: fine arts, graphic design, photography, and art history. The department is housed in three buildings-Fairbanks Hall, Cascade Hall, Strand Agricultural Hall-as well as a small sculpture facility behind Fairbanks Hall. The department sponsors Jumpstart, a highly successful and well-regarded summer pre-college program in the studio arts. Jumpstart brings approximately 80 high school students to campus each summer for a three-week resident program in art making, lectures, and workshops. In addition, the department sponsors the Rome Summer Program, a three-week resident program in Rome that focuses on art history and Italian language study. The Rome program attracts some 40 students from five universities.
