The pre-medicine option is directed at students planning to apply to medical or dental school who also wish to target chemistry as a career pathway. A BS degree in chemistry provides a strong foundation for many professions and postgraduate degrees in chemistry or related areas. Students can earn a chemistry degree in four years while also taking pre-medicine option courses in biology, biochemistry, and related areas that are important components for application to medical school.

Applicants must have an excellent academic record (a minimum 3. 0 on a 4.0 scale or "B" grade average or equivalent) from an accredited or recognized institution to be admitted to Oregon State University. International students must have the following GPA scores: Paper score of 550; Internet score of 80 (Minimum score of 16 on each section) and IELTS score of 6.5.
