This program combines aspects of both social and natural sciences. This field deals with relationships among individuals, families, and communities and the environments in which they live. The field includes several applied disciplines including consumer sciences, nutritional sciences, parenting, personal and family finance, resource management, human (including child) development, family science, housing and interior design, textiles, merchandising, apparel design and production, hospitality management, and related subjects. Family and Consumer Sciences Education prepares individuals for education-related careers in this field of study. The two most common careers are secondary (grades 7-12) school instruction (FACS Education) and Cooperative Extension Service education (FCS Education).
