This program is designed to prepare instructors and trainers for postsecondary educational institutions, industry, public and private agencies engaged in education and the training of adults. This degree is not intended for Ohio public school teacher certification/licensure (K-12). This degree focuses on producing instructors, who primarily teach subjects within a technical specialty at the postsecondary level. The program consists primarily of five major classifications: business technologies, engineering technologies, health technologies, natural science technologies, and public technologies. The student, with prior approval of the advisor, may select other career areas.

International students are not required to take the SAT or the ACT for standard admission. However, these tests may be required for direct admission and scholarship consideration. Undergraduate students must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 173 (61 Internet-based test), a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a minimum MELAB score of 69. TOEFL, IELTS and MELAB scores are valid for two (2) years from test date. The University of Akron accepts only valid test scores.It is required to have 2.75 grade point average on a completed Bachelor’s degree (or 3.0 for last 60 credit hours) for full Admission and 2.5 (or higher) grade point average on a completed Bachelor’s degree for arovisional admission.
