The program is designed so that a well-qualified student can earn a master's degree in economics with just one year of additional course work after the bachelor's degree. The program is intended primarily for students interested in further study in economics for its own sake or as preparation for admission to a top-tier Ph.D. program.

A master degree is required for Ph.D. A bachelor degree is required for Masters for admission. TOEFL scores 540 Paper-Based Test (PBT), 207 Computer-Based Test (CBT), 76 Internet-Based Test (IBT) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Overall Band score of 6.5 or higher (if applicable). Acceptable scores for all colleges except the College of Nursing are 550+ on the paper and pencil test, 213+ on the computer test, or 79+ on the Internet-based test. For College of Nursing applicants, the acceptable scores are 600+ on the paper and pencil test, 250+ on the computer test, or 100+ on the Internet-based test. Only Official GRE (or MAT) scores sent or verified by ETS will be accepted.
