This program requires 36 semester hours, consisting of 18 hours in philosophy and 18 hours in African-American Studies.

Students must have completed college preparatory curriculum in high school that includes four units in English and mathematics (units must be of equivalent or higher level than algebra I); three units in social studies and natural sciences; one unit in general sciences - two units’ lab sciences and two units in electives. They should also have high school overall GPA of at least 3.0 and an ACT score of 20 (or SAT of 930 combined critical reading and math) or better. Applicants from countries where there are only eleven standard years included in the primary-secondary system may be considered for admission if they have achieved a strong academic record and the final official leaving-school certificate. Generally, those who have received certificates of education or leaving school certificates (i.e. GCE, SPM, MCE, WASC), must have a minimum of five GCE equivalent passes in subjects, substantially equivalent to those studied in the U.S., including English. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based), 79 (internet-based test), or IELTS overall score of 6.5.

Located in Fayetteville (population 60,000) in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas, the UA is a land-grant, research institution of approximately 16,000 students. The Philosophy Department offers the BA, MA, and PhD degrees in philosophy and is composed of nine full-time faculty, approximately 25 graduate students, and approximately 60 undergraduate majors. Although the Department's bent is generally analytic, our course offerings cover a broad range and include every major period in the history of western philosophy, most of the major subfields of contemporary philosophy, and continental philosophy. Our areas of special concentration are the philosophy of mind, epistemology, and philosophy of religion.

Holcombe Hall is home to 140 co-ed students and the Office of International Students and Scholars. Holcombe Hall is located on the north side of campus near the Law School and Mullins Library. It features a game room, a formal lounge, a piano lounge and a T.V. Room. The hall is air-conditioned and has an individual thermostat in resident rooms. Each room also has a micro/fridge and carpeted floors. Room Dimensions are typically 11'-9" (W) x 15'-9" (L). Holcombe Hall is a 9 minute walk to the B.A. bldg./Kimpel Hall, 2 minute walk to NWQ Dining Hall, 4 minute walk to the Student Union/Library, 6 minute walk to Old Main, 10 minute walk to the HPER bldg, 3 minute walk to the Poultry Science bldg, 12 minute walk to Bell Engineering.
