This dual program trains professionals in the legal and administrative frameworks necessary to successfully function as a health lawyer or a health services administrator and prepares students to become health lawyers or health care administrators-professionals who understand the legal and administrative structures of health services. Students are required to attain a specialization and complete a research paper on a topic in both areas of study, supervised by faculty advisors from both schools. Candidates usually complete the first 31 credits in the law school and divide remaining coursework between the law school and the school of medicine. Program includes 45 credit hours in PBHL courses, and 82 credit hours in law courses.

Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and minimum GRE verbal score of 450, minimum total score (verbal and quantitative scores combined) of 1000, analytic writing score of 4.0. Applicants are also expected to have minimum of one year of undergraduate mathematics (e.g. algebra, statistics or finite math) and competent written and oral communication skills. International applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 620(paper-based version), 263 (computer-based version), 106 (Internet-based version) or an IELTS score of 7.0 or successful completion of ELS Language Centers Intensive Program Level 112. Students from Japan must have a "Pre-First Grade" score on the STEP Eiken.
