The program reflect the contemporary needs of students entering a vast array of creative performance and teaching careers. Students have opportunities to grow and thrive under the guidance of a faculty recognized nationally and internationally for their artistic and academic accomplishments. Applicants must exhibit high scholarly ability and have a broad musical and educational background as well as the appropriate master's degree from an accredited institution. Applicants are expected to demonstrate advanced technical and artistic ability.

The following are the modules: Major Area Credits: AXX Private music instruction 1 4, 4, 4, 4; ENS Ensembles and/or additional private lessons in preparation for recitals 10; REC 860, 861 2; Recitals 2, 2; REC 862 Lecture-Recital 3 2; Performing organization (each semester) 0; TE 640, 641 Doctoral Essay 2; Total credits-major area 34; Other Studies: TH Music theory electives 4 6; HLM 615 Pro-seminar in Music History 5 3; HLM Music history electives 6; Minor area 6 or electives 6-18; Total credits-other studies 21-39; Total credits for degree 55-67.

Applicants must have earned a bachelor of music education degree with a valid teaching license and a master’s degree from accredited institutions. Additionally, candidates will need to have completed a minimum of three years of successful music teaching at an elementary or secondary, public or private school. The minimum TOEFL scores expected are: GPD, and AD: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, or 79-80 internet-based. The minimum IELTS scores expected are: 6.5 or above on the academic test.
