This program is designed with a purpose to allow the department of nursing to prepare advanced practice nurses with the skills and knowledge to provide safe, high quality, cost-effective, coordinated and comprehensive clinical care grounded in evidence-based practice, and improve health care for diverse populations. As a graduate, they will be prepared to act as change agents exemplifying ethical leadership principles necessary for the changing healthcare system.

Program modules covered are: DNP 903 Biostatistics/Epidemiology (4 credits), DNP 915 Evidenced-Based Research (3 credits), DNP 940 Translational Research Project I (4 credits), DNP 921 Healthcare Informatics (3 credits), MBA 920 Economics of Public Health Care (3 credits), MBA 930 Ethics and Leadership in Health Care (3 credits), DNP 925 Emerging Therapies/Immunology (3 credits), DNP 930 Clinical Residence I (4-5 credits), DNP 941 Translational Research Project II (4 credits) and DNP 931 Clinical Residency II (4-5 credits).

Applicants applying for admission should have an AMSN degree from an accredited nursing school, cumulative 3.0 GPA from previous MSN coursework, current board certification in a Family or Geriatric Nurse Practitioner specialty, unencumbered Registered Nurse License and Advanced Practice Nurse License in the U.S., basic graduate level statistics course within the last five years and master’s thesis or scholarly project completed.
