This program is based on the scientist-practitioner model of training and emphasizes community mental health prevention and intervention services for clients with a wide variety of mental health problems. This program has four primary goals: To train Scientist-Practitioners of Counseling Psychology who use the scientific method in both research and practice settings; To train Counseling Psychologists who think and practice in a professional, ethical, and socially responsible manner; To train Counseling Psychologists to provide evidence-based psychological services in community and mental health settings; To create an environment that facilitates scholarship and innovation across a wide range of experiences and establishes close working relationships among faculty and students.

Applicants must have: Baccalaureate degree from U.S. Accredited institutions or international degree equivalent to U.S accredited institutions; Official transcripts of all completed college coursework - Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25 recommended; Two (2) letters of reference; appropriate scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), combined Verbal and Quantitative scores of 1000 or more are preferred. All international students are required to submit TOEFL scores in order to be considered for admission to UCA. It require TOEFL scores in order to ensure that all entering students have the English skills necessary to be successful in their classes. The required TOEFL scores are: 550 - Paper-based Test; 213 - Computer-based Test; 80 - Internet-based Test. The required IELTS score is 6.5.
