The Ph.D. program prepares students to conduct health services research and to teach in a university setting. The program is individualized for each student, taking into account the individual’s interests, academic training, and professional experience. The emphasis is on research methods, statistics, and advanced concepts in health policy and management. Students must complete a doctoral dissertation and demonstrate the ability to conduct original research.

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. International students whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 570 (paper-based) or 80 (internet-based). Applicants may also take the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) in lieu of the TOEFL. A minimum score of 6.5 is required for the IELTS. Admission also requires submission of scores on either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
