This cooperative program permits student access to the University of Florida's (UF) doctoral program via 2-way video-interactive approaches to distance learning on the campuses of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) and Florida State University (FSU). The University of Florida is the degree granting institution. Consequently student must meet the admission and graduation criteria of the UF Graduate School and College of Nursing. The program builds on the advanced practice of nursing at the master's level and develops researchers committed to enhancing nursing's knowledge base.

To be eligible for admission to the program, applicants must meet the following admission requirements: Baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing from an NLNAC accredited program. Evidence of current RN licensure in the State of Florida. Undergraduate Grade Point Average of 3.0 or above in all work attempted in the last 60 hours of the baccalaureate degree or Minimum score of 1000 on the Quantitative- Verbal sections of the Graduate Record Examination. Undergraduate course credit for basic statistics, health assessment and computer applications. One year of documented nursing practice within the past five years prior to the first clinical course. Evidence of professional nurse practitioner liability insurance for students. Current CPR certification. Documentation of current medical history, physical examination, and immunization status, including Hepatitis B vaccine and tuberculosis test or x-ray. Three professional references (one employment and two academic). A statement of professional goals. Personal interview. Foreign applicants must have obtained a score of at least 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
