MIA students are required to fulfill the core SIPA requirements outlined below. Dual-degree students are, however, exempted from a number of these requirements, since they overlap with the business school's core curriculum (see comments below). For further information on the MIA degree requirements, please see the SIPA Curriculum and Faculty Bulletin published each year. For a list of courses that fulfill core requirements, please refer to the Registration Handbook for SIPA Students produced at the beginning of each semester. U6800 Conceptual Foundations of International Politics (4 credits). U4595/4596 International Economics or U4600/4601 International Economic Analysis The core business school economics sequence, B6005/6006, may be substituted. One course in interstate relations (3 credits). Two courses in regional context (6 credits). One course in international policy analysis and management (MBA / MIA dual degrees are exempt from this requirement.). One course in statistics and quantitative analysis The core business school course B6014 may be substituted. One course in professional development (1 credit) Dual degree students who begin at the business school and take the professional development sessions offered by its Office of Career Services are exempt from this requirement. Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). International students whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). You may be exempted from the TOEFL if you have received a degree from an institution whose official language of instruction is English.
