The mission of the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration is to excel in the creation, dissemination, and application of business knowledge. The cost of living in Tuscaloosa is lower than in many other cities. An average two bedroom apartment off campus rents for about $450 per month. For a $40 membership fee, students can join the Off-Campus Association (OCA). The OCA is a nonprofit organization that allows its members — composed of students, staff, and faculty of The University of Alabama to receive significant savings on public utility deposits (electricity and natural gas). The University maintains more than 200 student apartments geared toward graduate/older students, which offer both the benefits of independent living and the convenience of campus housing.
