The Graduate School of Education is organized into three departments with four programs each. The focus of the Department of Educational Psychology is upon expanding knowledge in education and psychology and forging a link between these areas. Psychology is applied to the concerns of education, which in turn informs the development of new psychology. The Department of Educational Theory, Policy and Administration prepares educational leaders for schools and other educational institutions. The focus of the Department of Learning and Teaching is upon improving learning, instruction, and curricula makers across a broad range of content areas: literacy, languages, mathematics, science, technology, and early childhood/elementary education.At Mason Gross School of the Arts, almost every night of the week is filled with performances and exhibitions: classical music, opera, jazz, and music of the 20th century; art exhibits by talented students, faculty, and guest artists; modern dance performed by talented faculty students and guest artists; and a theater series that rivals those of the best repertory theaters in the country. As the arts conservatory of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Mason Gross School of the Arts is a professional school offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, theater arts, and visual arts, in addition to undergraduate degrees in dance. Its mission is to identify and nurture outstanding creative talent. Its goal is to instill the insights and skills needed by future generations of arts professionals, enabling them to contribute to the creative and scholarly activity so essential to the vitality of our culture and society.

The university provides both on-campus and off-campus housing. In off-campus rooms are usually unfurnished singles (rooms for one person) or doubles (rooms for two people), and a great number are within walking distance of a campus. The common areas of the unit-as well as the household responsibilities-are usually shared by all tenants. Rooms in Private Homes are rooms in owner-occupied apartments or houses. They are usually furnished and generally include partial or all utility charges in the monthly rent. Rooms in private homes do not always include kitchen privileges, and few are available within walking distance of a campus. Most are in surrounding municipalities. In on-campus housing student residence halls provide the following equipment and facilities. In the rooms: A bed, desk, chair, dresser, and closet for each student, window coverings (drapes or blinds), and smoke detector. In the buildings (most residences have these facilities in the building): Laundry. Lounge (many with TV). Study area. Kitchen or kitchenette (many with microwaves). Food and beverage vending machines. Conveniently nearby on each campus: dining hall(s), library computer lab(s), recreational center (Busch, College Avenue, and Cook offer swimming pools), campus activities center, numerous bus stops, public pay phones.
