The program requires two calendar years plus one semester (7 semesters that include two summers) for a total of 90 semester units. Students must enroll in the first four semesters full time. It is possible to reduce the course load to part-time after the fourth semester. This program is offered at both our Sacramento Regional Center and our main campus in Oakland.The purpose of this option is to prepare professional nurses for practice in a variety of health care settings. Graduates will build on their varied academic and experiential backgrounds to provide nursing care with an interdisciplinary case management focus. Strong advocacy, decision making, and planning skills are necessary for graduates to function in increasingly complex roles within the rapidly changing health care system.

Applicant should have a baccalaureate and all prerequisites by the time of entry. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the last 60 semester units. Beginning with Spring 2009 a minimum science GPA of 3.0 (prerequisites only) will be required. Basic computer word processing skills. For those applying to the FNP track, coversant skills in a second language is highly desirable. If students have attended a nursing program at another college or university, a statement explaining your reasons for seeking a transfer will be required. Additionally, a letter from the Dean or Director of your nursing program indicating that you are in good standing and eligible for continued enrollment in the nursing program will be required. CPR - certification at the healthcare provider level, earned prior to the start of classes. TOEFL (U.S. citizens or international students) - The need for TOEFL will be assessed based on information provided by applicants on the application for admission, if required, a score of 250 must be achieved and official score results must be provided.
