Orientation is followed by an introductory course that assist participants with the transition into academic life. Topics covered in the refresher course include finance, accounting, quantitative methods, economics and other basic skills. This course is taught in a convenient weekend format, and is offered over a five-week period. 

The Executive MBA Program includes a cluster of professional courses that focus on marketing, economics, accounting, quantitative methods, human resource management, and information systems. These courses are combined with a series of "contemporary" courses that examine 21st century management challenges at both the micro and global levels. Topics dealing with the global environment, change and innovation, team building, technology, and strategic planning are examined in detail and provide a unifying theme throughout the course of study. 

The sequence of courses has been designed to build upon the theories and skills learned in preceding courses. Students begin the program by taking the professional courses that establish a foundation in business and management theory. Later, other courses that are more contemporary in nature are integrated into the curriculum and account for the majority of the program emphasis on cutting-edge concepts. A holistic approach is used to evaluate each candidate, and no one factor will exclude an applicant from consideration. The Exective MBA Program is designed for experienced professionals. A minimum of three years of work experience with evidence of knowledge and potential growth are important factors. Potential candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. In certain circumstances, an applicant may be invited for a personal interview. Each applicant will be evaluated individually. The admissions committee seeks a diverse class with a variety of backgrounds. Solid recommendations from individuals who are in a position to evaluate professional or academic strengths along with a clear and well-written personal essay can positively affect the admission decision. The program is open to graduates of all disciplines and does not require course work in business. Students without business degrees are highly encouraged to participate in the education refresher courses. Hawai'i Pacific University operates on a rolling admission basis so applicants are encouraged to apply early. Admission decisions are made as soon as all necessary documents have been received. Once a decision has been made, applicants are generally notified within one week.
