The four parts of anthropology are biological anthropology, archaeology, linguistics, and sociocultural anthropology. An undergraduate degree in anthropology at the University of Oklahoma requires at least two courses in each of the four subfields, as well as course requirements in research methods, resulting in a well-rounded understanding of people in this country and around the world, both past and present.

Students should possess graduation from an accredited high school or they should have received a GED. The high school curricular core requirements should include the following courses: 4 units of English, 3 units of college prep math, 3 units of laboratory science, 3 units of history and citizenship and 2 additional units. An official TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test (213 on the computer-based test or 79 on the internet-based test), IELTS score of 6.5 and cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) is required.
