In this program senior archaeology majors have the option of writing an honors thesis under the supervision of a faculty member. Successful completion of the thesis will earn a student three credit and result in the conferring of a BA with honors.

Applicants should have completed a course of study in a secondary school that provides both a sound basic education and a solid preparation for the Johns Hopkins academic program. The preparatory course requirements are as follows: four years of English, four years of mathematics, four years of foreign language, four years of science with laboratory and four years of history. In addition to this, international students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper test), 250 (computer test), or 100 (internet-based test). Applicants taking the internet-based TOEFL (iBT) should have minimum sub-scores of 26 (reading), 26 (listening), 22 (writing), and 25 (speaking). A critical reading SAT score of 670 or higher waives for the TOEFL requirement for all students.
