The Department of Sociology/ Anthropology aims to help students apply the methods of science to explain human behavior in all social and cultural settings. In addition to a major concentration in sociology, the Department offers minor concentrations in sociology, in anthropology, in pre-law, and in criminal justice. Efforts are made to help students understand and deal with contemporary social issues such as sex, power, money, violence, drugs, love and social oppression in the forms of sexism, racism, and ageism. The Department helps students to develop skills for jobs as well as for graduate and professional study.The Department provides a number of interesting elective courses for students of all majors, including those pursuing careers in business administration, computer science, telecommunications, engineering, mental health, social work, teaching, counseling, corrections, health services, gerontology, law, industrial relations, personnel, public administration, religion, journalism, politics, and foreign service.

The Office of Residence Life and Housing (ORLH) at Morgan State University support and is an integral part of the educational and social development of students. Additionally, they provide a safe and comfortable living environment that enhances the academic success and achievements of the students. Students who live in residence halls are afforded a variety of opportunities for personal growth and development. They accomplish this through both structured and informal programs, and leadership opportunities throughout the academic year. The residence life program strives to provide an educational setting that integrates classroom and interpersonal experiences into a holistic learning experience. They also provide a living-learning environment that is conducive to the educational growth and personal development of the student. ORL provides quality residence hall programs, activities and living facilities that encourage student participation through hall government and leadership positions within the halls. The residence halls feature student rooms with telephone, computer and cable access, study rooms, laundry facilities and computer labs. They tailor residence life programs and activities to respond to the cultural, social, recreational and educational needs of students.
