This program is a unique degree, combining curriculums from both computer science and engineering. The degree allows more of a hardware emphasis than exists in traditional computer science master’s degrees and more of a software emphasis than existing engineering master’s degrees. This joint degree offers the opportunity to concentrate on both the key engineering areas of interest and to obtain a solid set of core knowledge in computer science. A typical person seeking this degree will be an engineer highly interested in computer science. Such individuals are involved in the intimate use and integration of computers in their everyday work.

The program modules are as follows: Required Courses 11 QH: COMP 3361 Operating Systems, COMP 3381 Software Engineering, COMP 3705 Advanced Software Engineering, Application Area Core (approval required) 16 QH: The Pre-approved Application Core: ENMT 4100 Systems Engineering, ENMT 4810 Engineering Project Management, ENMT 4000/4010 Space Systems Design I/II.

Students should have a bachelor degree. They should have mathematics background in higher mathematics through differential equations, probability and statistics and discrete mathematics; computer science background in basic introduction to computer science including knowledge of a programming language, preferably c/c++, logical design of digital computers and introduction to algorithms and data structures; computer engineering background in microprocessors, basic and advanced digital design, digital communications systems and DSP and computer/data communications and networks; electrical engineering background in circuit analysis and electronics, physical electronics and electromagnetic signals, systems and communications; mechanical engineering background in mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science; materials engineering background in materials science, physical chemistry, physics of solids, mechanical behavior of materials. They should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based) or and IELTS score of 6.0 or higher. In addition to this, GRE score of 600 for quantitative and 4.0 for analytical are also required.
