This program student is required to successfully complete 45 quarter hours of course work for the degree (equivalent to 30 semester hours). Eight core courses totaling 30 quarter hours are required; the student will choose 15 quarter hours of elective courses. A full-time course load is 12 quarter hours generally three to four classes.

Students should have a J.D. degree or its equivalent from a college of law approved by the American Bar Association and a satisfactory score on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). In addition to this, they need to obtain a TOEFL score of at least 550 (213 computer-based) or successfully complete the graduate preparation program at the University of Denver English language center.
