Students who wish to pursue graduate study directed toward developing leadership knowledge and skills may pursue a master's degree in educational administration with focus on: A) K-12 school administration or B) leadership in higher education. Focus on K-12 Administration: program in Educational Administration with emphasis on K-12 administration is designed to meet the needs of students seeking to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential to becoming effective K-12 educational leaders. The program requires completion of a set of Foundation courses, General Administration courses, and Specialized Preparation courses. Focus on Higher Education Leadership: program in Educational Administration with focus on leadership in higher education is designed to meet the needs of students seeking to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential to becoming effective educational leaders in higher education institutions.

Unconditional admission in the M.Ed. and M.A. in Education degree programs requires the following: Application for admission to the Graduate School; Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university; Attainment of an undergraduate cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0; or Attainment of an undergraduate GPA of no less than 3.0 in all upper division undergraduate coursework; Evidence of successful completion of at least 12 semester hours of coursework in upper division undergraduate coursework in professional education; Conditional admission may be granted to applicants who have been denied unconditional admission to the program in the following situations: Applicants may be admitted conditionally if they furnish evidence of overall Undergraduate GPA over 2.75 with Upper Division GPA over 2.75. Applicants have completed at least 12 semester hours of graduate level coursework with a GPA of at least 3.25.

Thid department is committed to assisting individuals to become effective educational leaders. Educational leaders possess knowledge of self, others, organizations, and society in order to perform creatively and effectively in diverse environments. Leaders engage people in identifying and working toward the accomplishment of a shared vision for the organization. Leaders also incorporate ideas, values, and experiences reflective of a pluralistic society and promote continual learning by students, teachers, staff, and self. Consistent with this vision, the mission of the Department is to provide academic programs and administrative experiences that enable students to achieve personal career objectives and contribute effective leadership in a variety of educational settings. The Department offers programs at the master’s level in principal preparation (both degree seeking and certification only) and higher education administration. The Department also offers the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration with focus areas in central office administration; school site leadership; higher education; and policy, evaluation and accountability.

Students who wish to stay on-campus reside at a housing complex known as Miner Village. However, student must register online and create an account to apply for housing. Students are requested do this early as housing fills quickly. Miner Village's 12 apartment-style residence halls, with 218 apartments and a capacity for 436 students, offers several floor plans, from cozy efficiencies to two- and four-bedroom units. There's also Summit Hall, the Miner Village Community Building, which houses study rooms, a recreation area, private mailboxes and administrative offices. The residence halls in Miner Village are all co-educational. Miner Village provides continuous stay for three, nine, and twelve months.
