The sports industry has been expanding rapidly, both in spectators and participants. As the industry grows, the need for administrators with specialized training becomes more complex and important. Sport Administration is an attractive field for young professionals. A degree in Sport Administration is widely recognized by industry professionals and gives graduates an important advantage when seeking employment. The University of Miami program in Sport Administration prepares individuals for a career in this field according to their personal and professional goals. The curriculum is designed to allow the completion of degree requirements in a 12-month period. The Sport Administration degree requires the successful completion of 30 credit hours. All students complete the Sport Administration core courses which accounts for 21 credit hours. Students can complete the remaining 9 credit hours through sport industry internships and/or elective courses. A thesis option is also available to students and information about the curriculum required for this academic track can be obtained from a faculty advisor.

Students applying to the program must have academic and professional backgrounds that meet the admission standards set forth by the School of Education and Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences. This program is designed for individuals who have at least a bachelor’s degree. Sports Administration only considers admission for individuals with at least a 3.0 or better G.P.A. Additionally, its typical student has an average GRE of 1000 and an analytical writing analysis of 4.0. Professional experience, a well-written statement of goals and strong recommendation letters weigh heavily in the faculty’s admission decision. All applicants who studied outside of the United States must be prepared to submit original transcripts to the University of Miami International Admission office. A TOEFL is required of all students who graduated from universities outside the United States unless the student provides proof of English competency or the country in which they received the degree is English-speaking. International students needing student visas must meet all requirements set forth by the University’s International Admissions Office.
