This program is a predominantly online program. It prepares students for management careers in foodservice/nutrition departments of hospitals, schools, universities and other institutions.

The program modules include Group I - Required Core Courses: NFS 5713 Human Resource Management in Nutrition Care Systems; NFS 5721 Seminar in Food Systems Administration (hybrid); NFS 5763 Food Safety/Foodborne Illness; NFS 5773 Organization and Management in Foodservice Systems ; 3 hours statistics or research design; Group II - Additional courses in major to be selected from the following: NFS 5733 Productivity and Quality Improvement for Foodservice Systems (hybrid); NFS 5743 Cost Analysis for Foodservice Systems; NFS 5753 Foodservice Facility Design and Management (hybrid); NFS 5793 Computer Applications in Institutional Administration (hybrid); NFS 5901 or NFS 5903 Special Topics; Note: A maximum of 6 credit hours for internship experience, independent study, or cooperative education is permitted in this option. Research hours are not permitted. Group III - Additional coursework: Additional coursework to be selected from additional courses above, other NFS program areas (Nutrition or Food Science), coursework from another department (e.g., Business), or coursework transferred from another institution (up to 3 hrs) with approval of the advisory committee.

Students should have earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 undergraduate hours. International students, whose native language is not English, must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper - based) or 213 (computer - based) or 79 (internet - based) or on the International English Language Test Service (IELTS) an overall band score of 6.5; or on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) an overall score of 80 as evidence of English language proficiency is required. GRE is required, minimum score of 350 on the verbal portion and 450 on the quantitative portion.
