This program is to prepare graduates to become health education leaders and practitioners in the profession. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to apply these competencies in their professional work. Students will assess the health needs and interests of individuals, groups, and communities in relation to cultural, ethnic, and demographic factors, they plan, implement and evaluate health education and health promotion programs in a variety of settings, they approach health education and health promotion from a multicultural perspective and sensitivity to diversity and develop appropriate strategies to effect positive health behavior among the groups or populations addressed.

Students should have earned bachelor's degree in any major from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0. International students, whose native language is not English, must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper - based) or 213 (computer - based) or 79 (internet - based) or on the International English Language Test Service (IELTS) an overall band score of 6.5; or on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) an overall score of 80 as evidence of English language proficiency is required. A verbal GRE score of 450 and a quantitative GRE score of 400 is required.
