The program prepares students to teach in a school of nursing, for patient educator roles or for staff development positions. Some graduates have pursued entrepreneurial enterprises. If students are a nurse with a master's degree who wishes to prepare for a role in teaching, students may enroll in the Post Master's Certificate in Teaching for Nurses - a 12-credit certificate which utilizes the core nursing education courses. Through scholarly projects, creative partnerships with faculty, clinical experiences, and selection of relevant cognate courses, students have the opportunity to personalize their program of study to meet their individual career goals. The program is designed for part-time study accommodating various nursing work schedules. The curriculum may be completed in 2-4 years depending upon whether students enroll in one or two courses each session.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a program accredited by NLNAC or CCNE or a Bachelor's degree outside the field of nursing, RN licensure, and completion of BSN competencies. they must also have undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or completion of 6 credits at the graduate level with a minimum GPA of 3.0, current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Connecticut, at least one year of full-time clinical practice, professional goals' statement and resume.
