This program provides students with a solid background for success in agriculture and industry. In addition to ASTM courses (such as electricity in agriculture, computer applications, mechanized systems management, etc.), students also complete courses in the agricultural sciences, agricultural business and economics, as well as the humanities, communications, the basic sciences, and mathematics. Thus, ASTM students are well prepared to meet the demands of both the technical workplace and a changing society. This program prepares individuals for technical careers in agricultural industries and businesses, production agriculture, and allied organizations. Graduates in agricultural systems technology management are well prepared for challenging careers which include technical sales representatives; plant production managers; agricultural and industrial equipment dealers; natural resource conservation advisors; product testing technicians; building products sales managers; manufacturers' representatives.

Students must have completed college preparatory curriculum in high school that includes four units in English and mathematics (units must be of equivalent or higher level than algebra I); three units in social studies and natural sciences; one unit in general sciences - two units’ lab sciences and two units in electives. They should also have high school overall GPA of at least 3.0 and an ACT score of 20 (or SAT of 930 combined critical reading and math) or better. Applicants from countries where there are only eleven standard years included in the primary-secondary system may be considered for admission if they have achieved a strong academic record and the final official leaving-school certificate. Generally, those who have received certificates of education or leaving school certificates (i.e. GCE, SPM, MCE, WASC), must have a minimum of five GCE equivalent passes in subjects, substantially equivalent to those studied in the U.S., including English. International students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based), 79 (internet-based test), or IELTS overall score of 6.5.
