स्थानबारे जानकारी
Classics offers a program that includes both a major and a minor centered on the study of the Ancient Greek and Latin languages in order to gain access to the richness and variety of the classical civilizations of Greece and Rome. The program is conceived in broad intellectual, aesthetic, social, political, geographical, and historical terms, examining Greco-Roman civilization in itself and in relation to the many cultures that interacted with it in the Mediterranean and European world, from Iran, Egypt, Nubia, and the Etruscans, to Britain, the Franks, the Huns, the Lombards, and the Goths. Core courses introduce students to the language, literature, and history of the ancient world. Cross-listed courses taught in other departments also provide a window into the society, politics, art, archaeology, and architecture of antiquity. Classics has been pioneering in such diverse fields as social theory, history of science, and ethics. Studying the literary and material records of the ancient world allows one to confront at their source many of the issues pertinent to modern Western culture and indeed the modern world. Greek and Latin authors such as Homer, Sappho, Sophocles, Pindar, Virgil, Cicero, Horace, and Tacitus remain unsurpassed for their intellectual and aesthetic grandeur and their moral profundity.

आवास सम्बन्धी विस्तृत जानकारी
Living on campus is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy University life at its fullest. It opens a world of interaction with other students, faculty, and staff members in many social and academic activities. The seven buildings that comprise the current Apartment Area are the oldest residential facilities at the University. Originally a 29-building complex, these were financed by the first government insured loan to a private university for campus housing. The original intent for these facilities was to house married veterans and their families. The apartment area was completed in 1948, along with the creation of Lake Osceola. In early years, the apartments consisted of mostly men. The Apartment Area houses both male and female upperclassmen students. The Apartment Area is located on the east side of campus between Stanford Drive and Dickinson Drive near the Metro-Rail station and the Wellness Center. Apartment Area residents may stay on campus during the Intersession period in December and early January. The housing services include: Cable TV, Carts and Vacuums, Housekeeping, Internet Connectivity, Laundry, Mail and Packages, Maintenance, Reception Desk, Telephone - Local Calling, Telephone - Long Distance, Vending. For more information about housing, students may call the Department of Residence Halls, 305-284-4505, or e-mail us at housing@miami.edu. University does not provide housing for married students or students with children.
