While it is true that classical Greek and Latin are no longer spoken languages, the literature and art of the Ancients speak to us still. To study the classics is to come into direct contact with the sources of Western civilization and culture, both pagan and Christian. An intimate knowledge of our Greco-Roman heritage furnishes students of the classics with historical, political, and aesthetic perspectives on the contemporary world. An undergraduate classic major provides excellent preparations for careers not only in academic, but also in nonacademic professions. A background in classics is, moreover, highly advantageous for applicants to graduate and professional schools in English, modern languages, history, philosophy, law, medicine, and theology. Finally, for the qualified student who is undecided about a major but interested in a sound liberal arts education, classics may be the best option.

The University of New Hampshire offers living space in 27 different residence halls. These halls are grouped into three separate and very different residential areas: Area 1: The Hills, Area 2: The Valley and Area 3: The Timbers. Each area possesses its own distinctive characteristics, inspired in by its location in the campus, by architectural style, and by the different themed housing located in the different residential areas. This university offers a female single-gender environment and coed residences halls as well as communities where students who share common interests can live. Facilities vary from area to area, but student will find recreational and social centers, dining facilities, and a variety of living adventures in any area. With each resident having their own high-speed internet connection, access to laundry facilities within each hall, cable television, all UNH residence hall rooms are welcoming. This fully furnished room includes beds, dressers, desks/chairs, closets or wardrobes. All UNH residence halls offer a variety of lounge space and kitchen facilities for residence use. They take great pride in this facility and look forward to sharing the experience of “living at UNH” with Student.
